Review of "Honeymoon Trespassers" by Sally Max

What's New to Review ~ Wednesday (Week Long Special Edition)

Good evening, everyone. Let me preface this post with, I love technology (except when I hate it.) The e-reader revolution has been an amazing thing to watch and be a part of. Though once I was a hard core physical book reader who smelled the pages and caressed each spine, I have transitioned into an ebook reader almost completely. I've been able to read amazing authors that I never would have even heard of with traditional printed books, my house is becoming less cluttered, and (just because I need another reason that sounds viable) I feel like I'm conserving trees and the environment. Okay, maybe that last one was a little far fetched for me, but some Earth conscious people really believe it. I guess I sort of do... maybe? Anyhow, today I went to read today's flirt and found my Acer was only 2% power. Okay, time to charge. No big deal. I can still read and charge at the same time. (Or so I thought.) Yep, couldn't find the charger. UGGHHH! I just wanted to read! But, speaking of the reading, I finally did find the charger and read.... so here it is!

The Book:

Released March 21st, 2014, "Honeymoon Trespassers" by sally Max is considered a Sweet Romance with a heat rating of two. I'm not sure if I would agree with the "Sweet Romance" part of this. Most sweet romances I've read have either closed door sex, light kissing, that type of thing. This short story has an explicit love scene with some frank language. I only include this as a warning to some. It doesn't take away from the book at all. I just believe that it should have been labeled as a regular romance. This cover for the Sweet Romance line of Flirts has bright red petals that are beautiful. Coming in at just over 2k. This was the quickest read of the Flirt line so far. It took me only twelve minutes, perfect for a half hour lunch break!

The Plot:

Have you ever done something that you knew you could regret? These honeymooners are all about trying to sneak away from the Caribbean crowds to have a little play time on their own. Everything is going well, and really... what could go wrong? (ummm... maybe everything?) The setting is the Caribbean, and more than anything you have to watch the weather, right? Well, now there is a predicament!

The Verdict:

This was a cute short read. The opposites of the couple had me nodding my head, as my own husband and I are like this at times. And living on the East Coast under the constant threat of hurricanes, I can tell you that the scenario provided by Ms. Max could definitely happen. I loved the description that she gave of the water and the wind. Having experienced it myself before personally, I can assure you that her description was dead on. Brilliant. As I said above, this was a cute short read and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a mid-day break. But, let's get to the rating....

Review of "The Song in the Silver" by Faberge Nostromo

What's New to Review ~ Wednesday (Week Long Special Edition)

Okay, I know. You really wanted this up this morning, and you guys have been pinging my home page waiting for the next quickie to grab. I can't help it. I love Flirt - ing. But, this morning I had to make sure that I spent some very special time with my oldest son. He graduated from Elementary school today and the whole day was about him. I've finally got a moment to myself and now is the time to tell you about an amazing Flirt that will be out tomorrow morning!

The Book:

"The Song in the Silver" written by Faberge Nostromo is due out tomorrow, June 13th. At the end of the review, I will have buy links where you can pre-order it. (Because believe me, you need to.) Coming in at 5.5k, this short was another great, quick read. I was done in about 30 minutes and faster than another this week at about the same word count. Again, a perfect lunch hour break. And though school is releasing for the summer, this would have been a perfect teacher break during their "planning period". This is also a Paranormal Flirt and the those covers have this beautiful purple color for their rose petals. But, lets get on with it, shall we.

The Plot:

Let's go with theme on this one. Good versus evil. Yep. That will do. Of course you could add, true love is forever to this as well. There are eternal wolves, and vampir-ish creatures that have been battling it out for centuries, and a blossoming young human love that gets caught in the middle. I really don't want to go much further, for fear that I could give away something crucial and your read wouldn't be as great. (I hope you understand, I'm doing this for you. You need to read the story for yourself.)

The Verdict:

WOW. Powerful story here. Heart wrenching in some aspects, but a beautiful at the same time. The ending... I mean WOW. I almost teared up. Crazy thing is, Faberge had me so vested in the characters in such a short amount of time, that I emotionally was charged. It was a perfect ending. And I can't really say more than that. I mean what is there beyond PERFECT.  So, to make it official...

Until tomorrow, I hope you get excited and pre-order this very romantic read and as always, Keep Reading!

Review of "The Admirer" by Michele Stegman

What's New to Review ~ Wednesday (Week Long Special Edition)

Hello my reading friends! It's actually Wednesday, so this review is right on time! If you haven't been around the last few days, let me fill you in very quickly. This week I have been hosting a special review week with a new line of short stories published by Breathless Press called FLIRTS, properly named for their brevity and the feeling that you get while you read them. If you haven't been here, Monday I started with a LGBT title "Eat Dessert First" and yesterday was a Suspense title "Eyes Only". Both were remarkably crafted and today's is no exception. So, on with it!

The Book:

Released May 23rd of this year, "The Admirer" is an addition to BP's Timeless line. This is their historical line and covers everything from Ancient Times through World War II. This particular short takes place in the Regency Period. It is a heat level 1 and a very sweet romance. Coming in at just over 6k, it's another perfect fit into a lunch hour with a few moments to spare for ordering or driving and such.

The Timeless historical line Flirt cover is represented by grayish rose petals. I understand the black and white, like old TVs or movies, but personally I believe the color is drab compared to the rest of the cover. I think perhaps cream colored or antique white petals may have looked better. But, that's just my opinion.

The Plot:

As often goes in these romances of old, there is an arranged marriage that the heroine, Marcia, is not to happy about. She wants adventure, intrigue, and passion. Upon meeting her fiance', she realizes that he can give her none of these.

When flowers and other gifts begin arriving addressed only from "An Admirer", Marcia sets out on the biggest adventure of her life. But, will she be able to find him before her wedding day?

The Verdict:

I absolutely love historical novels, though I must admit, I am NOT a fan of the Regency Period. I know, take me out in the middle of the square and stone me. I can't help it, it's just not my personal taste. That being said, I really liked this short story. It wasn't overly swamped with all the high and mighty jargon that I'm supposed to know before I even pick up the book. The heroine was fresh and dare I say almost scandalous for the period with her late night rendezvous, but she is willing to risk anything for true love. The triangle between the heroine, the Duke, and the Admirer is also well played. (Though I kind'ov had it figured out from the beginning, the author adds enough to still keep you guessing.) So, what's it going to be?

A Review of "Eyes Only" by H. K. Sterling

What's New to Review ~ Wednesday (Week Long Special Edition)

Last night after reading "Eat Dessert First" and posting my review, I hopped in my bed, cuddled up with my Acer and settled in for my next exciting read. When I loaded my latest FLIRT, I immediately noticed the cover. Of all the Flirt categories, the covers for the Covert lines excite me the most. Dark and Burning... oh yeah! And with H. K. Sterling behind the wheel, I knew I was in for a treat. And, so are you!

The Book:

Released March 28, 2014, "Eyes Only" is the first and only Covert style Flirt that has been released from Breathless Press thus far. Coming in at just over 5k words, it was a short forty minute read, perfect for a lunch hour if you must travel to get your lunch. As you can see, this Covert imprint of the Flirt line is truly gorgeous. What exactly is the Covert line? Well, these are all stories of intrigue. Whether there is suspense, murder, or investigations; this line has it. And between this little story and her new series, H. K. Sterling seems to be dominating the line... and believe me, I couldn't be happier! I love the way this author can weave an assorted tale.

The Plot:

This particular short deals with an interrogation. In the military world, leaking information is a serious business. No matter how innocent you think it can be, there are always people that will use your relationship to progress their cause. This is the problem faced by a young Marine, and his account of the goings on that lead him to this inquisition. Details are a must, and Ms. Sterling provides this with little effort. And sometimes... not every loose end can be tied.

The Verdict:

Love, love, love... loved it! No death, no murder, no gore... just pure old fashion manipulation and interrogation. Great short story, and though it was short, it still felt complete. The ending was a twist that I never saw coming and I hope like hell that she puts out another in this line soon! Last review I was lucky to do for her, I claimed that she could very well be the next JD Robb. I stand behind my words. Even in this short, her true writing ability is amazing!  But, just to make it official....

A review of "Eat Dessert First" by Brantwijn Serrah

What's New to Review ~ Wednesday! (Week Long Special Edition)

So, it's not Wednesday yet. I know, I know. But... I have decided to make this week special and hopefully, I can keep it up going all week. This week, I'm feeling especially delicious because it's the last week of school! My kids all passed those stupid tests last week, and I am less than two weeks awake from Disney World with my family!

My celebratory week will be a week that I've decided to FLIRT with you! Wondering what a Flirt is? Well, it's a short story category put out by Breathless Press that has stories that range from 2k-8k. They're only .99 a piece AND each and every FLIRT has a 50% off coupon to buy another flirt and a 20% off to buy any other book off their website. AWESOMESAUCE!  Without further ado, (since I just had my dinner) let's start with the first title of the week...

The Book

"Eat Dessert First" is a very short read. Coming in at just 2.5k it was one of the quickest things I could get my hands on. A mere twenty minutes later, and I was done. (Perfect while waiting at a doctor's office.) It is from the LGBT line and you can tell that by the rainbow rose petals on the cover. Each Flirt category has the same basic design and the colors of the petals help distinguish the category, but if you are ever in doubt about what you're getting, each category is also tagged on the cover of the book as well.

The Plot

Hmmm. This will be harder with the Flirt category of books, because as you may have guessed, there's not a whole lot of plot. Each of these stories are basically a scene or two with motivating characters and some fun thrown in. Trust me, this one doesn't disappoint. As you may have guessed from the title, we're discussing food. The setting is a kitchen, and oh my... my... I forgot all the sexual connotations that can be associated with cooking. After this read, I seemed to remember them ALL!

It is an LGBT romance, and it is a m/m read. Beautifully executed, I believe and truly realistic.

The Verdict?

Yum! Yum! Yum! Sexy characters, fun in the kitchen, and it's all about the dessert... hehe. Well, what else can I say, this particular story definitely satisfied my appetite for a quick lusty read.  Yep, You could have guessed it.....
