His Seafaring Siren is Contracted!

My first contract of the new year has been given! His Seafaring Siren - Caledonia Captives Book 2 was accepted this morning! I couldn't be more excited. This book definitely had its ups and downs and has taken me the longest to write. (9weeks to be exact.) But, I am so satisfied with the outcome.

My heroine, Mowriyah, is a feisty, sexy woman who is strong and slightly temperamental. She was so fun to write! Her nemesis, Phaedra, happens to be the hero's ex lover. When the two of them get together, you can feel the tension in the room. And poor Septimus, our Hero, just can't catch a break.

This high adventure, ancient Rome romance is the second in the "Caledonia Captives" series. If you liked "The Legionnaire's Prize," I promise you, you'll absolutely LOVE "His Seafaring Siren"! This book, I believe, is a far better story. The love making is hot and almost right off the bat. Especially since we've already met our Hero and Heroine in book one.

I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did writing it, and I'll keep you updated on release dates and cover art!

Decimus cradled her again, closer and tighter. He didn't want it to end, but control was not an option that he had the luxury of any more. He rubbed his hand against her back, gliding softly up and down again. She arched her body into him and he could feel her breasts crushing against his chest. She radiated a sweet smell, and he was reminded again of his true home.

Decimus closed his eyes and tried to drown out his subconscious that was ridiculing him for taking part in such an indecent act. It frowned at him and scoffed, showing its disappointment. In the back of his mind, it steadily tapped its foot, trying to make him feel guilty for taking advantage of this poor enslaved creature. However, with the gentle breeze blowing, her scent consumed his mind. The feral man within came to his aid, arguing heavily with his subconscious and ultimately defeating it.

He slipped his hand down past her rounded backside, feeling its fullness and warmth. Working his way back up her leg, he slid her robe to the side and allowed his hand to push under her tunic, stroking her bottom, and pulling it forward into him. A moan escaped her lips and Decimus froze, fearing her reaction if she awoke. This was wrong and he knew it. He chastised himself for his savage ways.

Within moments, her breathing became regular again. Her body was warm and welcoming. He breathed her in, taking joy in this simple action. The battle within him still raged, unexpectedly rekindled by the threat of her waking. This was his wife. He should take her—now. That was what a woman was supposed to be for. Wasn't it? His body screamed yes, but his mind warned him that this woman was something more.

New Goals and Help WANTED!

Remarkably, this has been the longest time it has taken for me to put together a first draft. I've always been quick with my actual writing process, ranging anywhere from 2 or 3 days to 2 weeks. This novella took me 7 weeks to write.

I had a wonderful partial outline and jumped right into it. Then came Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and all the wonderful twists that Murphy threw in as surprises. However, I realized the problem wasn't really with all those things. It was with my outline and the way I had intended my story to go.

Several changes, "a-ha" moments, and a half complete outline for another book later, I finally figured out my problem. (I wasn't ending it like a romance should.) Note taken, drive on!

The last two chapters came to me easily and took me about 6 days to write. Although those days were packed with more of Murphy's little tricks, I still think I could have finished it must faster.

So where is this all going?

I need help from you guys to hold me accountable. 

START new piece Monday, January 14th. 
COMPLETE 1st DRAFT - Monday January 28th.
COMPLETE editing - Thursday, January 31st
SUBBED - Friday, February 1st!

Bug me, annoy me, rant and rave, call me an idiot for not doing what I love to do anyhow, pester me about my progress and my book every step of the way. Make me be accountable to you guys to write on track and on target. I need your help guys, and I'll be waiting.

New Cover! "The Harvest Queen's Tutor" has a home!

The Harvest Queen's Tutor has a home!

Though I do not yet have a release date, "The Harvest Queen's Tutor" has been accepted and has been completely edited for publication.

This beautiful cover was my Christmas present this year, as it arrived the Friday before with all of my other wonderful artwork for promotion.

The artist did a wonderful job capturing the main characters. Their photo matches almost perfectly the descriptions in the book.

This cover was made by Tiggs Designs and the book itself will be published by Decadent Publishing.

My First Cover!!! and... a busy, busy life!

Hello friends! I've been nose to the grindstone for the past two weeks and between regular day to day life and my writing life, things have been on fire!

So without further ado... Presenting this wonderful cover by Mina Carter (http://mina-carter.com/) from Breathless Press. Due to be published and released January 25th, 2013. Literally all eyes are on "The Prize". (Sorry, cheesy, but couldn't help myself.)

As far as the process has gone. Things have been running smooth and I have returned 1st round edits to my lovely editor who is a genius! Waiting to hear back on some minor issues and should only have a round or two left.

Final edits are due to line editor by the end of November, so it will be a heck of a race to the finish line.

As an update, pre-edits are turned in today for "The Harvest Queen's Tutor" and I'll be expecting to get 1st round edits from that one soon as well.

Oh and somewhere in there, I have at least three more stories to write and ideas for about three more after those! Loving my life now, and loving how much fun I'm having. Keep in touch everyone! I expect to be having a few more Author Spotlights coming in soon as well!

New Contract Offer!

"The Harvest Queen's Tutor" has been offered a contract.  Though this is my second offer of contract, I feel almost more excited over this offer than I was the first. The first offer of contract for "the Legionnaire's Prize" came July 16th and the feeling was almost surreal. So many things made me question why I was offered the contract. I know now it was just my own stupid self-doubt.

However, with my acceptance to another publishing house for a second story, I am just further validated that it wasn't just a fluke, I actually wrote something that two different companies, two different editors wanted. I won't just be a one hit wonder, but I can write for a living and actually enjoy the fruits of my labor.

I quit my job this year also, deciding that this year was the perfect year to see just how far I could actually go with my writing. My husband and I had planned carefully for it, but as school started and that first check didn't come in, I began to worry. When I hadn't heard anything from several of my submissions, I started browsing the employment pages of my local school board.

Two months had passed, and just as I was beginning to seriously contemplate applying for something, I received this news. Some people would see this as a sign, I think I will go on faith and also believe.

So, I've carefully read over the contract, compared it to my first, looked at what would be required of me and what would they would provide. After all that, I have signed and will be mailing the paper copy off by snail mail tomorrow.

So, now that I'm waiting for more edits to be sent to me, I will begin my next writing adventure and study even harder to get that next contract. Until then... happy reading and writing everyone!
